We have had such a fun week. As you all know it was Gretta's first Christmas. And even though she won't remember it was pretty special to the rest of us. Her first big Christmas gift was from "Santa" and she got it on Tuesday, we were excited to give it to her and she will never know the difference. And when I say "we" I mean me. Elijah could have waited but I was too excited. It was a Baby Einstein Jumper. She is still a little small for it but she seems to like the music and lights that it has to entertain her. Christmas Eve we spent with the Welchs. First at Elijah's Mom & Dads (Grandma & Grandpa Welch). She didn't make it through the entire present opening event. She got through two presents then she was too exhausted to continue. So, she slept through the rest. Which met more presents for me to open. Which was perfect for me. Shortly after I realized that it would probably the last Christmas for a while that I would get to open presents. Because next year I am sure Gretta will be in charge of unwrapping everyone's gifts. Then that evening we went to Elijah's Uncles for the first big Welch Christams not happening at Grandma Welch's ( this would be Elijah's Grandma not to be confused with Gretta's Grandma Welch). Then at about 12:30 am we arrived at my parents' ( Grandma & Grandpa Shannon). then we had the big Shannon celebration on Christmas day.
She recieved lots of great gifts, a night time light/aquariam muscial toy, a Laugh & Learn Puppy, Laugh & Learn Purse, A stuffed puppy, clothing items that are so adorable, Dr. Seuss Books and Nursery Rhyme Books and that is all I can remember at this point in time.
I almost forgot about her 4 month check-up. Gretta weighed in at 11lbs 4 oz. and 24 inches long. She is growing and developing well. She remains in the 5th percentile of weight and is now in the 25th percentile of height. The doctor said he could tell she was very strong by the way she was holding her head and how she pulled her self up. He refferred to her as "small but mighty". So all is well and right on track. She will go back in February for her 6 month check-up and at that time we will start her on solid foods.
Gretta continues to laugh and smile a lot. She is a very happy baby. She is teething so it seems to have changed her cute coos to more of a grunt because she is always sucking on her fist, her lips or any object that she can get her mouth.
As I sit here on the sofa typing she sits on her father's lap and I realize how amazing she truely is. It sometimes just hits me that she is this little person that has forever changed our lives. I can't wait to see all the fun that is yet to come.
